Fulham v Birmingham – Pre-match Poll

A year is a long time in football. Only a few months ago, both these sides were basking in the glow of remarkably successful seasons that belied the resources afforded them.

Both clubs are lingering a little too close to the relegation for their own liking, however with a couple of resolute defensive displays against Manchester City and Chelsea behind them, Birmingham will fancy their chances of leaving Craven Cottage unscathed. Whether they can score any goals, however, is a different question.

Fulham were first hand witnesses to the power possessed by Manchester City, however, Mark Hughes will want his players to forget games like that and focus on winning home fixtures. This will be vital if they are not to be dragged into a post-Christmas relegation scrap. With the January transfer window approaching, a dip on form could be curtains for Hughes’ attempts to hold onto key players.
