Nicholas previews Wednesday’s clash between Tottenham and West Ham
Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas claims that Tottenham Hotspur will have no problems overcoming West Ham United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
West Ham will visit Wembley off the back of a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night.
Tottenham, on the other hand, recorded a 4-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon to continue their excellent run of form.
Both managers are expected to make wholesale changes for the League Cup fixture, but Nicholas has tipped Tottenham to book their spot in the quarter-finals.
Nicholas told Sky Sports:
“This could be a feisty one – but I only see one outcome. Mauricio Pochettino impressively exposed Liverpool’s vulnerabilities on Sunday and their confidence must be sky high.”
Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Bristol City and Leicester City all booked their spot in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night.
Those six will be joined by one from Tottenham and West Ham, and the winner of the clash between Chelsea and Everton at Stamford Bridge, which also takes place on Wednesday night.
Man United are the current holders of the competition, now called the Carabao Cup, after beating Southampton 3-2 in the 2017 final.
